6595 Lance Sgt. Leonard John Rushan, Army Pay Corps.

Enlisted aged 25, 2 April 1915. Unfit for combat duty. Discharged 19 January 1919.



63401 PrivatePhilip Edward Gamble Rushin, 10th Batt. Leicestershire Regt.

Enlisted aged 35, 1 November 1915. Transferred to 2nd Batt. 14 April 1917. Received a gunshot wound to the thigh 22 April 1917. Transferred to Northumberland Fusiliers on 1 February 1918. Served in Mesopotamia from 6 July 1916 to March 1919. Discharged 13 March 1919.



880189 Gunner Stanley Albert Rushan, Royal Field Artillery

Enlisted at Romford into the 2 East Anglian Brigade Royal Field Artillery on 5 November 1912.

Served in France, Egypt, Palestine and Syria. Wounded in action in Palestine 21 September 1918.
Demobilization came on the 28 April 1919.



Lance Corporal William Rushen, Royal Berkshire Regiment.

Enlisted 19 February 1898 aged 18, farm labourer from Ramsbury.
Served in Gibraltar and Egypt. Promoted to L/Cpl. 12 May 1904 but demoted on the 13 June 1904. Transferred to the Reserve on 18 February 1906 after 4 years service.

Re-enlisted on 2 December 1914, "C" Company, 3rd Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment.
In action at Neuve Chapelle on the 10 March 1915 he was buried by a shell explosion and suffered shell concussion of the spine, brain injury, fracture of base of the skull, loss of memory and shell shock.
15742 Private William Rushen aged 37 discharged to pension on 26 April 1916 on account of injuries received in action.



6220 William Thomas Mills alias Rushent, 3rd Bn. Royal Berkshire Regiment.

Enlisted 19 July 1901 at Reading aged 18 years 11 months, hotel servant from Great Bedwyn.
Served in Gibraltar, Egypt, India and France. Reported missing in October 1914 and confirmed as Prisoner of War, 30 July 1915.
